Hungarian Yellow Wax
Similar in appearance to the banana chilli, producing large, thick and crunchy pods, but significantly spicier with a Scoville reading of over 5000. Used extensively in Hungarian Cuisine.
The Hungarian Yellow Wax is a tasty chilli that is widely used in Hungarian cooking. It has a mild spice profile, and a beautiful floral aroma.
Despite its name, the Hungarian Yellow Wax actually matures to red, but it is most commonly harvested when immature/yellow in colour. It produces large, thick crisp and crunchy pods, that can be eaten raw.
People sometimes mistake the Hungarian Yellow Wax for the Banana Chilli - but they quickly know of their error, being that the Hungarian Yellow Wax is a fair bit hotter - measuring in between 5,000 to 10,000 Scoville Heat Units (similar in heat to the Jalapeno).
